MCA Workshop 

Delivered to your service/home at a time that is convenient to you.  The Session lasts about 2 hours with time to ask questions. We reflect on case histories from your serivce as this enables staff to understand how it really works.  Certificates will be provided.   

Cost:

  •  £200 for executive members (those that paid BCA's executive member fee)
  • £240 for members (those that have not paid BCA's executive member fee)

What we cover:

  • The law, consent and LPoA
  • The Mental Capacity Act 2005 and how it protects people
  • The 5 Principles of he Act
  • Assessing capacity and keeping records
  • Best-interest decision making and keeping records
  • Using the MCA framework to make difficult decisions
  • What should we do if somebody decides to refuse care they need
  • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard (DoLS) and what they are there for
  • We have lots of discussions using case studies from your setting, this helps staff understand how it really works
